Papercut Jewelry by Mr. Yen

Papercut Jewelry by Mr. Yen:

Mr. Yen Papercut

There are so many amazing new papercut pieces in the Mr. Yen shop that my mind is boggling at all of the hand cut loveliness. I love that Jonathan is exploring larger scale pieces, like the intricate “Today is Your Day” typographic papercut above, and his new collection of papercut leaf necklaces is divine.

Papercut Leaf Necklaces

The necklace collection was inspired by autumn leaves, and each piece is cut by hand using a scalpel. The delicate, feminine designs would make wonderful statement pieces for special events and occasions, and though they’re necklaces, I think that they would look wonderful as ornaments on a Christmas tree, too.

Friends With Benefits

Friends With Benefits:

Friends With Benefits

I love the idea behind the new Friends With Benefits project by Baltimore based printmaker, Erin Wallace. Erin wanted to share her love of letterpress with artists and friends in fields that don’t normally get much letterpressin’ love, so she asked seven madly creative people whose work she admired to create a piece with the first Friends With Benefits collection theme: piles. Each artist used the same two-color palette, and Erin printed and packaged them for all of us to enjoy!

Letterpress Prints

As Erin says, “This project’s mission is to not only reap the benefits of all parties having madly talented friends and acquaintances, but to really prove that the anonymous printer/artist relationship isn’t the way things need to be. I’m proud of my craft and everything I print contains my absolute lust of printmaking.”

Artists participating in the first Friends With Benefits collection include Andrew Neyer, Sam Alden, Jen Mussari, John Chae, Jordan Bernier, Alyssa Nassner, and Luke Pearson, as well as letterpress printers, Typecast Press and Gilah Press. Also, a portion of the proceeds from the project will go to MAP International. Check out all of the letterpress goodness that you’ll find in your FWB package:

Laser Cut “Stained Glass” Cards

Laser Cut “Stained Glass” Cards:

Laser Cut Seasons Cards

Christina from Nib & Tuck recently made her first foray into the world of laser cutting, and the result is her beautiful new Stained Glass laser cut card collection, which features four seasonal designs, including a summer sun, a winter snowflake, a spring flower (which doubles as a poinsettia), and an autumn maple leaf. The snowflake and flower/poinsettia designs would make wonderfully unique holiday cards, don’t you think?

Cards can be purchased individually or in a set of four (one of each design) in the Nib & Tuck shop or at Felt & Wire.

A Guy-Friendly Happy Birthday Card

A Guy-Friendly Happy Birthday Card:

I know that many of you are always on the lookout for cool, guy-friendly and masculine birthday cards, and this Matchless letterpress card by Shed Letterpress instantly caught my eye. It has a sort of suave, 60′s vibe that I’m really digging – the textured, navy blue background is great, and the match graphic is seriously cool.

The card is also available in yellow, if you prefer something sunnier:

3D Paper Art by Noelia Lozano

3D Paper Art by Noelia Lozano:

Noelia Lozano 3D Paper Art

It always makes my day when I’m introduced to a talented, new paper artist, and Noelia Lozano’s 3D paper sculptures have me feeling totally jazzed.

Noelia, a Spanish graphic design student, originally started out studying journalism and telecommunications but realized that design was where her passion truly was. Since then, she’s been enthusiastically building a portfolio filled with her clever, colorful paper sculptures, which include everything from student projects to contest entries to her own, personal endeavors.
