Speech Recognition, How Its Changing Our Lives (infographic):

An informative infographic has been created showing how speech recognition impacts our lives and how its being used to change and develop our world. The infographic has been created by Medical Transcription and shows the technology used behind Automated Speech Recognition (ASR). Showing examples of areas we now take for granted and new areas that are currently under development like lie detection within banks and voice controlled applications.

Google has already invested heavily in ASR development and hopes to push out new service using the technology. The reason Google’s ASR system works so well when you use it, is because Google is currently storing every spoken or written search terms entered into its systems, explains the infographic. I wonder how many that actually is?

N-Control has just announced that they are no taking pre-orders for their PS3 version of the N-Control Avenger controller add-on. The N-Control Avenger has been available to Xbox 360 players since February 2011, but soon PS3 games will also be able to benefit from the adapters enhanced gaming control.

The PS3 N-Control Avenger like the Xbox 360 version has been designed to enhances the gamer’s manual dexterity and situational awareness by improving accuracy and reaction time. By reducing the amount of movement required to press a button or triggers, and also allowing you to access nine functions simultaneously.

This week in Japan Sharp has unveiled a new tablet named the Sharp RW-T107 which comes complete with a near field communication reader (NFC). The NFC reader which is thought to be the first to be integrated in to a tablet, can be used in stores to read membership cards, IDs, loyalty cards, special offer coupons and more.

As well as the unique NFC reader the new tablet runs Android Gingerbread and is equipped with a 7 inch touchscreen together with microUSB, headphone jack and HDMI connections and a SIM card slot.
