In my book, papercut artists are basically magicians. Probably because I lack even a fraction of the incredible skill and patience that goes into making these delicate art pieces. I came across the gorgeous work of Zagreb, Croatia-based artist Tena Letica a few weeks ago, and instantly fell in love with her whimsical creations. Here are a few of her recent projects!

From Tena: After getting a degree in Industrial Design and working in a graphic design studio I decided to take the rather insecure road of freelancing. My recent work mostly revolves around papercutting and paper engineering and those long hours spent at the studio usually result in whimsical characters cut out of paper. Finding my inspiration in vintage cartoons, I try to keep my work simple and sharp with a dose of humor. I like to keep things handmade as much as possible because those small differences in actual pieces make each piece unique.

Papercut Wedding Invitations

Happy Monday everyone! I find myself gravitating to all things shiny and metallic as the days get shorter and colder, so I was thrilled when Vici-Jane and Richard from the UK-based Artcadia sent over these fun vintage-inspired gold wedding invitations for New Zealand couple Amy and Mike. Vici-Jane and Richard previously worked with Amy and Mike on an acrobat-inspired save the dates and carried the theme through to the invitations.

From Vici-Jane: Six months ago, Amy and Mike contacted us to commission a design for acrobat themed save the date cards, in ticket style. We’ve continued this fun theme throughout their 2 colour letterpress invitation suite. We used gold and black ink, giving the suite a real luxury feel. The resulting look is perfect for their New Zealand wedding where they’ll be having an acrobat to entertain their guests!

From Alexandra: Watercolor Letterpress is our latest couture collection and combines the technique of letterpress printing with the artistic quality of watercolor painting. The collection features five initial designs: Fauna, Seersucker, Chevron, Swash, and Peony. The entire collection allows for the option to add watercolor embellishment to any piece of the suite during post-production. Clients can choose their own watercolor paint color(s) – as well as font and letterpress ink color. Each piece will be one of a kind!
